A World Leader in Oncoplastic Breast Surgery, Dr. Krishna B. Clough is a surgeon, oncologist and plastic surgeon. He specializes in the treatment of breast cancer and every aspects of breast surgery. He holds a diploma in general surgery, a diploma in oncology, and a diploma in plastic, cosmetic and reconstructive surgery. After completing his surgical training in France (Former Intern and Former Chief of Clinic at the Paris Hospitals) and in the United States (Columbia University, New York and Emory University, Atlanta), Dr. Clough joined the Curie Institute team in 1990. He quickly became head of the Department of General and Senological Surgery at the Curie Institute, a position he held until 2004. He then left the hospital to found the PARIS Breast Center, the first center dedicated exclusively to breast surgery in France. Dr. Clough is one of the most renowned international experts in the field of breast surgery. Each year, he operates on more than 350 patients with breast cancer and as many with breast cosmetic surgery. He is recognized in France and abroad for being at the origin of “oncoplastic” surgery, which combines oncological and plastic surgery techniques in the same operation. This technique makes it possible to remove tumors while restoring a harmonious shape to the breast, thus avoiding major deformations (large tumors or with difficult locations in the breast). Dr. Clough is a member of the boards of the French Society of Senology and the European School of Surgery. He is a member of the French Society of Plastic, Reconstructive and Cosmetic Surgery. He is also an expert at the National Cancer Center. He is a founding member of Breast Surgery International and a member of the European Society of Senology. He has represented France in numerous international workgroups (consensus conferences) which work has been the topic of major publications (Consensus conference on breast conservation). In parallel to his surgeon activity, Dr. Clough has continued to teach advanced surgical techniques throughout the world. He has published more than 150 scientific articles in international journals and is the author of several didactic books and a book for the general public regarding breast cancer (Cancer du sein, Editions Marabout). He is invited in many countries to teach and to perform presentations and surgical demonstrations. |
